Ignorance

Sitting down in my wheelchair,
Getting used to stare after stare.
I have got legs, which don't work to good,
But still have veins full of red blood.
My brain works, I can still talk,
The only problem is I can't walk.
When you speak talk to me,
'Cause if you look, my eyes still see.
All my senses they still work,
So please, stop acting like a jerk.
Look at me, not my pusher,
Talk to me, I'll try to utter.
A few words, maybe a chat,
Speak to me; it's not as bad as that.
Sooner people start acting sane,
Disabled people still have a brain.
Or am I such a disgrace,
You can't look me in the face.
I didn't ask to be like this,
Would've rather given it a miss.
I have arms, and I have legs,
But I'm treated like the dregs
Disabled people can still have a life,
Brothers, sisters I'm a wife
I've got children, and a pet to,
I'm no different from any of you.
Don't humour me, and please don't stare,
When you see me in my wheelchair.
All I want is to be treated the same,
After all, I have got a name.
Give me a hand; be of good use,
IGNORANCE is no excuse.
