Me
I was not well, I had been ill,
But I’m alive, because of the doctor’s skill.
To many doctor’s I owe my life,
They really helped me in ’85.
Harefield Hospital gave me a new start,
When they replaced my damaged heart.
Then again two years later,
When I needed a heart pacemaker.
Every year or there about,
They give me tests and check me out.
Ultra sound, E.C.G. and chest X-Ray,
All done in an efficient way.
In ‘97 I could go on no more,
When my back got really sore.
Many tests and samples taken,
Lots of progress, they were making.
Then Christmas Eve in 1998,
I was really was in a bad state.
My Kidneys had failed in a bad way,
On dialysis later that day.
A few more weeks in a hospital bed
“You’ll get better”, the doctor said.
Now like in ‘85 with my heart,
I need another donated part.
The doctor’s are doing all they can,
But I’m still alive, I’m a lucky man.
I have good days, some are bad,
Some days happy, some days sad.
Hopefully one day, my life will change,
When I get a new kidney in exchange
